Write A Blog Post in 15 Minutes!

I have been blogging for years and now, I don’t need to spend a lot of time writing my articles. In fact, I finish an article is about 10 to 15 minutes. This article too was completed in under 15 minutes. Some might say that content is the king and you need to pay more attention to it but I never compromise on the quality of the work. It is more about smart work where in you get the same amount of work done in less time. Here are my few bits on how to do it –

1 – Keep a list of ideas – When any inspiration strikes you, scribble it down on a notepad. A lot of writers spend loads of time thinking about what to write. If you keep a list of ideas, you will be able to start writing faster.

2 – Your ideas should incubate – You might throw a brilliant idea away by sitting and forcing yourself to think of supporting information. Instead, let the topic sit for some time and supporting ideas for it will come automatically. You can then start writing about it.

3 – Editing before writing – Once you have a topic in mind, you might have a ton of supporting ideas for it. So it is really necessary to get brutal and kill the supporting ideas that you don’t need. Remember, I am talking about how to write an article in 15 minutes.

4 – Use bullets – Long stories can be pretty boring. Instead, you can use bullets as they are to the point and the readers can easily see what you are trying to say by just looking the points. A lot of people are too lazy to read the entire essay. Short bullets will hold their attention for longer time.

5 – Don’t make it too long – For writing an article in 15 minutes, it is important to wrap it up in 500 words. Don’t let any guilty conciensce prick you saying that the quality is being compromised upon. It is important to weave an article around one topic and stick to that topic throughout.

6 – Do come back later – If you are struck with writers block and don’t know what to do then stop writing. Don’t force yourself to think of ideas. Instead, work on something else and then if some inspiration strikes you, get back to that article. You can also switch from one post to another. The ideas will surely come and you will end up saving a lot of time.

7 – Don’t save good ideas – When you first go through your list of ideas, you might think of saving the good ones for later because they are easy to write. But then you don’t want to save on time; you want to save on time now! Hence it is highly recommended to pick up the juiciest topic and start writing.

Digital Content: The Wild Wild West

Content theft is a chief concern among bloggers. Here are 5 Easy to Use Tools to Effectively Find and Remove Stolen Content, and here's more: (1) Disable Text Selection [code] and (2) Display a DMCA Copyrighted Content Banner on your blog. Here's an interesting case of content theft: Changeling Rapper Lil’ Kim was apparently caught red-handed stealing the work of a Canadian makeup artist.
Samantha Ravndahl, who is both the model and the artist in a series of pictures, discovered Lil’ Kim is using her work.
“Lil Kim took my photo and is using it as album art (might I add she took the liberty of adding her watermark over it on instagram),” Ravndahl writes on Reddit.   Tsk Tsk - adding a 'watermark' is a real slap in the face...

Energize Your Blog!

While running a blog, sometimes it feels like your content marketing strategy has simply worn out. Writing used to thrill you initially but now it is a chore. Readers have started getting on your nerves now and the tedious little tasks are also getting to you. Quitting isn’t on your mind though, all you want is to bring back the magic just like it was in the good old days. Businesses and blogs are like marriages; you need to put in some extra work in order to keep the spark alive.

If you are looking for some ideas for better business blogging, you are in the right place. Here are my few bits –

Learn new things - Remember what made your business look so cool in the first place? It was the learning curve. When you stop to grow and learn, you start dying. It is really important to keep learning not just for your business but also for your self respect.

Do Q&A call - If you are suffering from problems of self-doubt, then I would recommend you to announce Q&A free call for your audiences. You can use the free teleconference services that are available out there for putting the word out. Announce that you are going to answer questions of your readers live. It will surely bring you tons of traffic.

Connect - Go to some of your favorite blogs and commend love on the recent posts. This surely will inspire you to write better content. You need to make some connections and you can start with readers who always drop in comments. Also try connecting with bloggers who has got plenty of readers.

Write manifesto - One way to do this is to sit down and write core values that you business stands out for. If these values do not make you tingle, then chances are that you are not honest. It is essential that you put values that will form a lump in your throat. Don’t just put boring platitudes saying ‘excellent service’.

Blog Tune-up!

Have you wondered why you blog at all? Why are you taking time out of your hectic schedule everyday for blogging? Do you wish to be a professional blogger and earn money by blogging? Or do you just blog for taking, ranting, and venting about your boss? You might have lots of reasons for blogging but then it is essential that people read what you want to say and also put comments on it. In order to achieve this goal, I am here presenting five points that will surely help you promote your blog.

1 – Title should be powerful
You might have really good content but no one is going to read it if the title is boring. In this case, the content won’t even get touched. The title must stand out from the crowd and you should communicate quickly to the reader about what he will get if he reads further.

2 – Blog posts should be reader friendly

The blog post should be ‘scannable’ and the readers shouldn’t have to sift through all ‘words’ for getting gist of the content. Here are some ways to make the post scannable

  • Bullet Points
  • Numbered Lists
  • Header Tags
  • Pictures
  • Good spacing between the lines (this is technical CSS stuff)
  • Short Paragraphs
  • Quotes
  • Bold Text

3 - Embellish posts with images

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and hence you should put in a picture in all articles. Add your ORIGINAL photos, drawings, charts and infographics. They give some life to the article and social networking freaks will love it especially if it is creative, funny, and relates to the content.

4 - Use videos SPARINGLY

This should be used cautiously because this might get overdone. I put it in my blogs if I think it adds value to my content. Also, you should put small text paragraphs after the video. This shows that you took some time to get the video and it is important from the SEO perspective too.

5 - KISS!  Keep it short and simple

You might have heard this a zillion times but its importance can’t be emphasized enough. The blog posts should wind up in maximum of 500-750 words. Most people out there don’t read more than a couple of sentences. If the article is too long, they will just scan through it. I bet most of you aren’t even reading this sentence!

Blogging SECRETS x 3

Written for YOU. Take a FREE blogging course NOW! now.
Blogging is a systematic process and most of the new bloggers don’t get it. They simply buy a domain, get hosting account, put in content with a few makeshift graphics and then expect the money to start pouring in. It doesn’t work that way.  Here are a few blogging tips that I’d like to share with you guys –

Give your blog a professional start and do not monetize for the first six months – Do not monetize the blog with things like ad sense scripts. If are a tossing a banner or two, it is fine but I won’t advise you to look for money at the initial stages. In fact, it is recommended that you don’t go commercial for at least one year. Or else your readers might think that you are in the business just for making money. Also, affiliate marketing and ad sense ads can take the readers away from your blog even before they get to know your blog fully. You’d want your readers to be loyal and stay with your through thick and thin right?

Auto schedule the posts – Most bloggers write on the blog on the day that they want them to be published. If you write like this, then you will be under pressure to meet the blog schedule or else the blog might not get updated. I would recommend you to create some buffer by writing 2-3 months in advance and then scheduling the articles to come up on the designated date. This will give you ample time to think about the new posts that you want to write.

Targeted traffic means a lot –
They say that the key to online success is traffic. But just any kind of traffic doesn’t work. For instance, for betterbloggingforbloggers.com, I target both new and veteran bloggers who want to learn blogging basics and those who are already experts and just want to sharpen their skills. People who are looking for tips on buying clothes won’t be my targeted audience. I would advise you to focus on generating the targeted traffic. Spending your effort and time on it makes more sense.

5 Ways to Promote Your Blog!

FIRST – Sorry. But there’s no ‘easy’ way.If there is, I bet you wouldn’t be reading this one in the first place. That’s the very basic thing that every blogger out there should know. As the cliché goes, no pain no gain. Deal with it – promotion takes time. In fact, it takes a whole lot of time that I’ve already seen a lot give up on their blogs just because of ‘promotion difficulties’ (or the lack of it).

SECOND – There’s no once in a while. What we have is ‘all the time’.Considering that you’re not on Technorati’s Top 100 blogs, what really are the chances for you too make it big if you don’t resort to daily promotion? The very reason why after you publish a post you immediately twitter about it (or submit it to social bookmarking sites) is that you’re after a certain attention. You have to seek your market because they won’t come looking for you.

THIRD - The best promotion goal? To be EVERYWHERE

Spamming excluded of course. By all ways and means, get your address splattered across all corners of the interactive web. The more networks you have the better. The bigger your follower count is, all the best. If it means you have to spend a day registering to different sites, then so be it. The goal is to gain an access to as much portals as possible.

FOURTH - It's about HOW MANY

Two words - social proof. The more you have it, the lesser you need to make an effort to promote your blog. Instead of just you, how would you want hundreds or even thousands of other people giving your free promotion with only a little effort from you (like publishing your post). Copyblogger is a good example of a social proof master.

FIFTH - It's about WHO

A certain Joe telling his readers that your blog looks and sounds great is fine. A hundred or more Joe's telling the same thing about you is even better. But you know what's best? That's oone single referral form a master whom everyone listens too. Think being mentioned by CNN for example. Now what would that do? The answer? Your dream come true promotion heaven.

When it comes to promotion, it's big time hardwork. You could either outsource and hire others to do it but given an effective method and the realization of these simple truths, I don't see any reason for someone to really fail in this. As for me, the simple truth is just to go out there and spread your blog's name. The rest usually follows once you've got your brand recognized.

Promoting Your Business via Social Media

Using social media, you can start building up an audience right away. The beauty of social media lies in the fact that you can make a lot of personal connections via it and if you want to get a list of followers for your business quickly, all you have to do is build up this audience. It's the easiest way to go about promoting your business and here's how you can go about it.

Add social media icons to your site

It's all about ease of accessibility. You don't need to force anyone to share your content or details about your business, but you should make it easier for anyone that wants to help you in promoting your business. I can't begin to tell you the number of times I’ve stumbled on a page and realized that the only thing stopping me from sharing the page is the fact that I can't find anything that will help me share it. Similarly, your mailing list sign-up should be visible on each page and these should all link back to the social media accounts you hold. Mind you, this holds as true for businesses as it does for bloggers. Make everything part of a giant networking platform and you will begin to reap the benefits of it all. Give people the option of sharing something via their favorite social media account and you will gain in the short and long term. There are plenty of free icons out there, so pick out whatever you want to.

Use your audience to your advantage

The best way of building an audience is to use your current audience to help you do exactly that. Invite people to connect with others by requesting them to do so in a blog post or in a newsletter. If you've got people already connected on one platform, ask them to connect with other platforms as well, they're likely to be more than receptive. And don't forget to touch up your bio while you're at it; you can build these links into your bio as well. But should you link to a bio on each of the sites you have (if you run multiple blogs, for instance)? I don't believe you should, because that would be information overload. Just link back to the one account that you feel best or most active on. It goes a long way towards helping you put your best foot forward and create a strong relationship with your readers or users.

Draw attention to your social media presence

Don't get a bunch of flamenco dancers doing their thing, but do try and draw attention to your social presence every now and again. Doing this regularly will help you have top of the mind awareness and it will help you build your site up to a level where you won't need to tell your readers/users to help you because they'll be doing it themselves. Go out there and get this done now. Stopping reading, start doing. GO!
