Download Free Editorial Calendar! ( 2016 Content Marketing Editorial Calendar Template and Tutorial )

A Quarterly Editorial Calendar Template (And How To Use It)

I happened across a rather interesting blog article by one David Risley entitled "A Quarterly Editorial Calendar Template (And How To Use It)" - intended for die-hard bloggers or those blogkeepers who may have other daily responsibilities that mandate they squeeze every drop of usefulness out of any blogging time they might have.

Like most folks who come across articles like these, the best way to see if an idea like this will work for me is to try it out. Although the author shares his idea, he does not share (unless you are willing to PAY for it) a ready-to-roll template. There always seems to be a "catch" with these "blog gurus." It always involves money.

Now, there is nothing wrong with asking for money when you perform a service. I charge for my blog critiques. But I am open about it, and don't butter up my reader only to let them down in the end by demanding payment. Okay, "demanding" might be a harsh word - let's swap that out with "requiring."

Invoking the magic powers of Google, I typed "editorial calendar template free 2016" into the searchbox. VOILA!

How Often Should You Post to Pinterest, Twitter, Google+ and Facebook?

Share

If you’re a brand using social media to raise awareness of your products and services, build an engaged community of fans and customers, and drive footfall to your website, you really need to be updating all of your channels at least once per day, every day.

But not all social networks are created equally.

Studies have shown that Facebook, for example, works best if you post twice per day. After that, Likes and comments begin to drop off.

Three tweets per day seems optimal on Twitter, and about the same number of posts is ideal on Google+.

Meanwhile, the top brands on Pinterest have seen rapid growth by posting multiple times per day.
Check the visual below for more insights, which comes courtesy of Buffer and SumAll.

Bounce Rate

 this information is FREE!

Bloggers, let not your hearts be troubled by high bounce rates!

Bounce rates can be used to help determine the effectiveness or performance of an entry page at generating the interest of visitors.

An entry page with a low bounce rate means that the page effectively causes visitors to view more pages and continue on deeper into the web site: but not always! A high bounce rate often means the person got when they came for.

How many times have you looked at your blog stats vs. what blogger or wordpress reports. Notice any discrepancies?

What about your bounce rate google analytics? Have you ever tried performing a content experiment?

2015: A Great Year For Bloggers!

To kick off another year, some minor tweaks here on the landing page! The emphasis on this blog is shifting away from marketing and all that (which you can pick up here) to a more purposeful focus on BLOGGERS and their blogs. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave them in comments!

Now, here's a question for ya! How CAREFUL are YOU, blogger, about what you say on social media? Does your employer regulate or "own" your twitter and/or facebook accounts? Do you blog independently or are you "sanctioned" by the outlet you work for? Your thoughts?

Back in 2010 I posted an article entitled "Tweet Like A Rock Star," to which I now shall add "Don't tweet anything you'll be sorry for later." Like this young woman did.

Like CNN's Jim Clancy did...

And what about all the hooptydoo about "Personal Brand" - you know I think the gal who innovated personally branding a blog was wendy Cheng, whose fave colour pink became her blogspot blog's trademark! You'll find Xiaxue in the list of blogs appearing on this page!

What Is A Link Wheel (And Why You Need One)

The Link Wheel is a link building strategy using 'backlinks' designed to boost SEO (search engine optimisation), to rank your blog or website higher in Bing, Google, etc. and to attract more targeted traffic. As is the case with most SEO tactics, use link wheels in moderation and over time. It's an ideal strategy for the weekend website warrior and the evening blogger.

A word about "Link Wheel Services" - DON'T go through a link wheel service if your site is not ranked at least on the second page of Google for competitive terms. They're not  effective when your site has little authority or limited visibility, as the powerful boost a link wheel gives the site will look suspicious to Google. IF you are ranking in Google's top 20, the lift from a link wheel will fast-track you onto the first page without any risk of your site being penalized.

Rule # 1 ::: Be careful! Google’s algorithms are specifically engineered to locate link wheeled sites and blogs and delist them. This is meant to be a long term strategy.

TAKE YOUR TIME.  Before you begin, make sure that you have created high quality ORIGINAL content!

Rule # 2 ::: YOU DON'T NEED SOFTWARE! Here's a guide provided by the legendary blogging queen, Saki Tumi:

A) Write your post and make a resource box with 1 link to your blog

B) Submit this article to an auto-approve directory or blog aggregator***. Better yet, spread the word via Facebook, twitter, weibo... milk social media to your advantage!

C) Now add a 2nd link pointing to the URL of the article you just submitted. Now submit this at another site.

D) Replace the URL in your article to link to the last submission.

E) Go back to 'A'   NOTE: "Deep linking" to internal pages of your website using your desired keywords can boost older pages on your blog: search engines will surmise the page is still relevant and raise its ranks in Search Engine Ranking Position (SERP). A good rule of thumb is to try to get a minimum of 3-12 links to every article of choice on your blog and within a short period of time, the inner pages of your site will begin to rank for your designated long tail keywords.
